Prompted by this year's Snowflake challenge, here we go:
I'm a fandom old. Have been reading and writing fanfic since 2003 (see here), with a long break from 2009 to 2022, when life got in the way. My first love was the Lord of the Rings fandom; I started on the Yahoo groups and was active on LiveJournal in its heyday. My old website is no longer active but has been archived, ditto my old LJ. I've written fanfiction based on The Silmarillion, Harry Potter, Mary Renault's The Charioteer (see here and here), and Jamie O'Neill's At Swim, Two Boys. Currently reading (and starting to write) Good Omens fic.
All my fanfiction is archived on AO3. My Silmarillion fanfic is also on SWG. After resisting for ages, I'm now on Tumblr. In my RL I'm a working mom with two kids who have umpteen after-school activities, so writing time is kinda precious. I've written in my car or locked in the bathroom because it was the only privacy I could find, and once scribbled an entire fic in a notebook, late at night, in a dark room I shared with my daughter on vacation, using my phone's flashlight as the light source -- over the course of two weeks. Turned out to be a pretty good fic too.
I may not post here often but I am around. If you know me or would like to, and you think we'd have something in common, feel free to subscribe. I do enjoy having a small fandom community. I'm an introvert, so small and slow is very much my speed.
